About Dr. Marty Frankel, DDS, FAGD
When Dr. Marty Frankel graduated from the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Dentistry in 1984 he began a journey as a lifelong learner. This journey has taken him to various locations in the world to study from some of the most brilliant and progressive minds in Dentistry.
Somewhere in the evolution of dentistry and medicine the mouth was conceptually separated from the rest of the body. We can’t “cut people off at the neck” and expect to maintain excellent health. The studies that Dr. Frankel has pursued constantly reinforce the holistic and intimate physiologic connections of the mouth to the rest of the body.
His mission is to help people become healthier, happier, and pain free by learning about and honoring those connections.
Before becoming passionately connected to dentistry, Dr. Frankel worked and played as a professional percussionist and drummer. He performed with the likes of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The National Ballet of Canada, The Canadian Opera Company, The Stratford Festival, The National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the late jazz singer Joe Williams, vibraphonists Red Norvo and Haygood Hardy, saxophonist Al Cohn, and others. He continues to have a great love for music ... especially Jazz!
Dr. Frankel lives in Toronto with his wonderful wife Nancy, and loves spending time with her, their children, and grandchildren.
I have been working in the dental industry for almost 25 years. 20 of those years have been with Dr. Frankel. I love coming to work everyday and being able to learn new things all the time. My greatest reward is seeing my patients' great smiles at the end of their treatment and feeling their appreciation for what we can do for them.
I live in Toronto with my family. I have two grown children, Matthew and Merrylla. When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to bake for them and entertain. Some of my hobbies include baking and reading.
Dorothy Brunne, RDH
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME ... I am Dorothy, registered dental hygienist at Smiles by Design. I have been practicing dental hygiene for 17 years. Throughout my career I have learned many aspects of dentistry including but not limited to periodontics, orthodontics and neuromuscular dentistry. My mission as a dental hygienist is to provide my patients with optimal dental hygiene care and work together with them to help them achieve optimal dental health.
When I am not practicing dental hygiene, I am a mother of two amazing children (Alex and Mia) who bring joy to my life. Life with my kids is filled with hockey and gymnastics, as well as volunteering at the children's school. This provides a very rewarding balance between work and home life.
I strive in my career as well as in my personal life to constantly learn new things and educate myself on dental hygiene skills as well as areas of parenting. Learning new things has also taken me out of my comfort zone and challenged me in very rewarding ways. I look forward to more challenges, learning experiences, family memories, and working with my patients to help them achieve their dental and overall health goals.
